Excel Academy received its charter from the Ohio Department of Education in 1995 and operates following all state standards and guidelines. We are a unique, private school that is student centered, due to our 10 to 2 student/teacher ratio which allows all academic content to be individualized to meet the student’s needs. Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced in working with students with special needs. Direct Social Skills Instruction is provided for a minimum of 40 minutes per day. Social Skills Instruction is specifically designed to accommodate the emotional/behavioral needs of our student population. Students are taught coping skills to utilize during emotional frustration, classroom management skills to foster optimal classroom learning, and communication skills to appropriately advocate needs and display socially appropriate behavior. Excel Academy provides educational services to students in grades Kindergarten through Twelfth, as well as to those that choose to defer graduation for extended services. Our highly structured program allows for maximized Academic and Social Skills Instruction. Our goal is to provide all of our students with the fundamental tools to be successful and eventually reintegrated into their public school setting. Our mission is to unveil the potential of each student, and allow them to be the successful individuals that they are destined to become. |
